Style:

  • My training and inspiration have come from the work of B.K.S. Iyengar who is renowned for utilizing props to make poses more accessible to everyone. This style emphasizes specific anatomical alignment, enhancing ease of movement, strength, flexibility, stamina and general well-being, while facilitating a focused and quiet mind. Yoga is a process as much as it is a series of poses. My primary teacher is Patricia Walden, Senior Iyengar Teacher.

Sessions:

  • Classes are offered in sessions of 10-12 weeks. Your consistent attendance will help you advance to the next level.

Classes:

  • Each class begins with a few minutes of quiet “centering,” to shift your attention away from your busy day.  The sequence of poses builds skill and understanding from posture to posture and class to class. There is a period of relaxation (savasana) at the end of each class.

Poses:

  • Each student is encouraged to work at her or his own level.  Yoga is for everyone. There is no need to have a certain amount of flexibility or strength in order to begin. Your yoga practice begins wherever you are.

The Studio

  • Established in 1990 in a historic downtown building, our studio has a beautiful 1000 sq. ft. oak floor and a serene atmosphere. For use during class, we provide high quality mats, cotton blankets, blocks, straps, bolsters and chairs.
